Hamilton, NJ, April, 2010 - GreenCOMFORT is pleased to announce that it has fulfilled the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Section 402, and has received certification to conduct lead-based paint renovation, repair, and painting activities pursuant to 40 CFR Part 745.89.

Do you live in a home built before 1978 that needs some remodeling? Trick question ... all homes built before 1978 need some remodeling.

That year, however, is important because lead-laced paint was used in more than 38 million homes before being banned for residential use in 1978. And starting in April 2010, the EPA's Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP) rule takes effect. Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which can be harmful to adults and children. To protect against this risk, EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices and other actions aimed at preventing lead poisoning. Under the rule, contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

GreenCOMFORT is an EPA certified firm that meets the requirements of the Renovation Repair and Painting rule. EPA certificate NAT-32294-1.
